The system is simple; an electronic pressure transducer is placed on the Mud flow circuit either on the inlet or outlet of the well. It sends an electronic signal to the data acquisition system, which converts it into pressure units.
It is a fully active Wheatstone bridge of resistors diffused into a single-crystal silicon chip. The direct conversion of pressure into an electrical signal is achieved by a minute deflection by the effect of applied stress (Mud Pressure), which changes the resistance of the bridge.
Changes in pressure cause a corresponding change in the transmitter output in proportion to the bridge unbalance.
